BY EMILY CLACHER (aged eight)
Ben hates staying at his Granny’s house. According to him, all old people are boring, until one day Ben finds diamonds in his Granny’s kitchen.
His Granny told him that she was a ‘gansta’ and had stolen many diamonds.
Ben and his Granny set off on an adventure to steal the crown jewels but it doesn’t all go to plan. Slowly Ben’s feelings for his Granny change, and he can’t stop wanting to visit his Granny.
My favourite part of the story is the ending where the Queen shows her Union Jack knickers live on her Christmas speech. My least favourite part of the story was when Ben’s Granny sadly died of cancer.
David Walliams is a great author. I have read many of his books and liked them all. ‘Gansta Granny’ is a good example of his good writing because it has a mix between excitement, happiness and sadness.
