A MAN was killed in a head-on crash in Upton yesterday evening.
The 34-year-old – who is from the Upton area but has not yet been named – died following the crash on Welland Road at about 7.40pm after the green MG sports car he was driving was in collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf.
Both vehicles were badly damaged and the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries.
PC Ben Wharton of West Mercia Police said: “Residents and other road users were very quickly on the scene, but sadly it was clear that nothing could be done for the driver of the MG.
“The road was closed until the early hours of the morning to enable investigations into the circumstances to commence, and the scene to be cleared.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the dead man. A specially trained family liaison officer has been appointed, and will be keeping them updated on the progress of the inquiry.”
The Worcestershire coroner has been informed and an inquest will be opened in due course.
Anyone with any information can call police on 101 quoting incident number 652-s-310314.
