TEAM that keeps Worcester clean and tidy could be restructured after a consultation period was launched.

The 45-day consultation aims to bring job descriptions of employees in Worcester City Council's Cleaner and Greener City department in line with changes made to the team's work in recent years.

It will involve closing 150 existing posts and creating new ones, with the majority of staff moving directly into new roles on the same pay grades and few or no redundancies are anticipated.

It will ensure the staffing structure is fit for purpose and the department can continue to deliver services effectively and efficiently.

There are several anomalies in the way the department is currently organised, with cases people doing exactly the same jobs being on different pay grades.

The proposed restructure will put the department in a better position to meet the challenges presented by government funding cuts.
