WEST Worcestershire's MP has offered her support to a long-term economic growth plan.
The strategy was created by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership in consultation with local MPs and has set out a series of short-term aims including the dualling of the Carrington Bridge and the creation of a Worcester Parkway rail connection.
Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the proposals and agreed to lobby in Westminster to push for funds to deliver these important projects.
Mrs Baldwin said: “The government is looking to invest in so-called ‘spade-ready’ projects to help to improve our national infrastructure and I have urged the LEP to build these into the plan.
“The Carrington Road bridge is a vital link which urgently needs improvement and I have already raised this project with the Prime Minister directly."
She added: “I also believe that Worcester Parkway, together with improvements to the Cotswold Line increase the number of trains to London and the south-east and will help our local businesses to thrive.
“I feel it is a vital long-term aim that the county council and LEP work harder to promote our county to the wider world and make sure that the business community sees what a great place Worcestershire is to live and work.”
