A NUMBER of swimmers caused a splash when they went the distance for charity.
Worcester Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, Sansome Walk, donated the use of it’s pool and staff for the annual Sainsbury’s Swimathon in aid of Sport Relief on Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23.
Some 45 swimmers completed distances of up to five kilometres, or 200 lengths, as they collected funds for the worthy cause.
David Pugh, contract manager at the pool and fitness centre, said: “Swimathon 2014 was a huge success. It was great to see so many members of the local community take in this fantastic fund-raising event and make 2014 even more memorable for sport.
"The events ability to provide challenging swims and raise money for great causes remains as strong as ever.”
The Swimathon is the UK’s biggest fund-raising swimming event with thousands of people taking the plunge around the country, with more than 600 pools taking part.
