THE organisation running the three acute hospitals in Worcestershire is to re-examine how fetal remains are disposed of following a report raising some concerns about the processes involved.
A meeting of the board of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust – which runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital – on Wednesday, March 26 was presented with the results of a staff engagement exercise which showed some employees had raised concerns about the issue.
The monthly meeting at the Alexandra Hospital also heard some staff had raised concerns about the movement of patients around wards between 11pm and 6am.
Although the trust’s chief executive Penny Venables said patients are only moved between these times if it is absolutely necessary, she said the trust would examine working practices around both concerns.
