Fallen Grace is a drama set in the Victorian times in 1861. It is about two sisters called Grace and Lily Parks, who are orphans; their mother is dead and their father has disappeared.
The story begins when Grace is attacked and she becomes pregnant. However she loses her child and doesn’t have the money to bury it, so travels to Brookwood Cemetery and hides it in another coffin. This is how she meets James Solent, a lawyer who reappears many times further on in the book.
Grace and Lily struggle for money over the next few months, and eventually, when their lodgings are going to be knocked down, they go to seek another job in a different part of London.
Grace finds a job with the Unwin family as a mute for funeral services, and Lily goes to be a maid at their house, where she meets Charlotte Unwin, the spoilt daughter of Mr and Mrs Unwin. The Unwin’s are sly and evil, and the plot soon unravels.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great read and I think lots of girls my age would love it. The characters were especially exciting; Sylvester Unwin really scared me!
A great read and definitely five stars out of five.
