PUPILS have helped build natural habitats for wildlife at a Worcester park.
Students from the River School joined forced with Worcester City Council's parks team at Gheluvelt Park in Barbourne to help build bat and bird boxes.
The project was part of the children's personal character development programme in which they have been learning about servant leadership.
Ten year 9 and 10 pupils from the Droitwich Road school took part on Wednesday, March 12.
The school's headteacher Carol Parry said: "Working with organisations such as the city council offers the chance for our students to get involved with their local communities and appreciate the importance of their environment.
"Parks and open spaces are a vital part of city life and we wholeheartedly embrace our pupils getting involved in such a project.
"Taking our classroom activities outdoors into the community offers them wonderful opportunities."
Michelle Newell, community engagement team leader at Worcester City Council, said: "We're really pleased to have the River School children working with us.
"It's a great opportunity to have extra pairs of hands helping with practical work in the park."
