A NUMBER of pupils from a school near Worcester are preparing for the trip of a lifetime.

The youngsters from St Barnabas Middle School in Drakes Broughton have been selected to visit the Houses of Parliament in London tomorrow (Wednesday 26th).

While there, they will tour the famous chamber and take part in a debate with other schoolchildren from across the country plus Commons Speaker John Bercow MP.

The trip is as a result of St Barnabas being selected by education news group First News.

The school was one of ten across the country to be given the chance to travel to the capital.

The First News Debate will give the youngsters the chance to put a panel of politicians on the spot with issues that matter to them.

Each school can bring four pupils, who will also take part in a democracy workshop run by the Parliament Education Team.

They will then head to Speaker’s House for the debate itself, chaired by Mr Bercow.

To be in with a chance of winning the event, pupils will need to come up with two questions that they would like to put to politicians.

They can be about anything that children think will be of interest to other school pupils attending the event, including the environment, energy, education, transport, jobs, education, politics, international relations and defence.
