RUNNERS can go double the distance to show cancer who is the boss at this year's Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.
A new 10k route will start and finish in Pitchcroft, go around the park, racecourse grounds and also venture into Gheluvelt Park, Barbourne, to make up the extra distance to the usual 5k route.
Women can sign up now to take part in either the 5k or 10k Race for Life which will take place on Sunday, July 6 at 10am.
Kelly Rumble, Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life area events manager, said: “We’re calling on ladies in Worcester and surrounding areas that have done 5k and need an extra challenge and those that have never taken part as 5k wasn’t enough to enter and take on cancer at this year’s Race for Life 10k.”
“We know how committed Worcester women can be when they really make up their minds to do something.
"We want to harness that power to stop cancer in its tracks, by raising money for life-saving research.”
Last year, 3,015 women took part in Race for Life in Worcester and raised over £163,000.
The organisers hope they can sign up 3,400 women this year to help raise £160,895.
She added: “Race for Life is an amazing way to celebrate life but also remember those who have been lost to the disease.
"There are over 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all.”
