AN army of volunteers is helping people get back on their feet after last month's floods.

Volunteer advisers from South Worcestershire Citizens Advice Bureau, who have been helping people cope with the aftermath, will receive additional government funding to provide extra assistance to people in the Malvern Hills District.

They will be able to give advice on getting help and support to people whose home, business or self-employment has been affected by the storms on matters such as finances, housing or consumer issues and replacing damaged goods.

Les Kinmond, chief officer of South Worcestershire Citizens Advice Bureau, said: “We have been helping people deal with the horrendous impact of these storms and these additional resources will help us to continue to deliver support where it’s most needed.

"Our army of volunteers will continue to get out into the heart of flood-hit communities to make sure people can get back on their feet."

Mr Kinmond added: “Even after the water recedes, the impact of flooding can last for years. We know form first-hand experience that helping people get over a crisis like this is a long-term commitment.

"We can help residents to sort out housing, deal with insurance companies and ensure that everyone in our community can fully recover from this huge setback.”
