THE gritting team from Worcestershire County Council are ready and waiting to swing in to action to help keep traffic on the move with poor weather on the cards.
The Met Office has predicted rain, wind and low road surface temperatures for the weekend and there may even be a light dusting of snow on higher ground.
Council officers will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the weekend and are ready to carry out whatever action is necessary.
Cllr John Smith, the council's cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "The message for drivers doesn’t change but it's just as important as ever. Take care when temperatures dip.
"Grit has never been, or never will be a miracle cure. Don't assume that it's safe to travel at normal speeds when temperatures dip, even if you think roads may have been treated."
