A TUNEFUL theatre company is hoping for a top performance at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Great Witley Operatic Society has been nominated for Best Musical for their 2013 production of Oklahoma at the National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards.
The awards ceremony for the West Midlands area will take place at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on Sunday, April 6 and the society won this award for their 2011 production of the Gondoliers.
The society's chairman, Richard Jones, said: “This recognition is particularly pleasing as this was Great Witley Operatic Society’s first venture into musical theatre - the society being better known for its Gilbert and Sullivan and light operatic repertoire.”
Mr Jones will be representing the society at the awards ceremony because producer Chris Love and musical director Sue Black are unable to attend as they are involved in the final rehearsals for the society's production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s the Yeomen of the Guard.
The association aims to support the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre.
It also encourages the appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.
The Yeomen of the Guard runs from Tuesday to Saturday, April 8-12 at Worcester's Swan Theatre.
