A SWIMMING pool in Worcester is causing a splash for Sport Relief by hosting a two-day swimathon.
Worcester Swimming Pool, in Sansome Walk, is hosting one of 600 events around the country at 11am on Saturday, March 22 and 9am Sunday, March 23.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the event and sign up for a 5km, 2.5kmor 1.5km swim as individuals or teams.
Entrants will be told how many lengths they need to swim and will be presented with a medal and a goodie bag once they have finished.
Richard Dakin, general manager of Worcester Swimming Pool, said so far about 40 people have signed up to take part.
"We're hoping to get about 60," he said. "It's going to be brilliant. There will be lots of people cheering. We're hoping to make a really big event for Worcester and try and put Worcester back on the map for Sport Relief.
"Most people tend to do bike or running events but swimming is really good for people who prefer to do their swim and not worry about pounding their joints on tarmac or pedals."
