A COUNCILLOR who has donated money to Acorn's Children's Hospice has described the service as a "jewel in the crown of human kindness."
Worcestershire County Councillor Tony Miller has given £1000 from his divisional fund to the Bath Road hospice for the second year in a row.
The money from Councillor Miller's divisional fund will help the children's hospice continue to provide care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families, from across Worcestershire.
Cllr Miller, division member for Bowbrook in Wychavon, said: "Acorns Children's Hospice is a jewel in the crown of human kindness where it is only by the love, care and total commitment of all who work there and volunteer.
"We are a very special nation that we can and do provide this essential care for those who have times of greatest need.
"I can only encourage those who are thinking of fund raising to consider Acorns."
Mandie Fitzgerald, community fundraising officer for Acorn's Children's Hospice in Worcester, said: “Acorns for the Three Counties is currently providing care and support to nearly 180 life-limited and life-threatened children and over 230 families, including the bereaved, from the hospice in Worcester.
“We rely on the community for the majority of the £2.5m plus needed each year to run the hospice so the generous support of individuals like Cllr Miller is vital to ensure we can continue our important work.
"On behalf of everyone at Acorns, I‘d like to say a huge thank you – his donation will make a real difference to the lives of local people.”
