PEOPLE flocked to a Worcester church to get help in tracing their family history in a series of free open house events.
About 120 people visited The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Canada Way, across five days to find out more about their ancestors.
Visitors were able to carry out family research using computers, microfilm and micro-fiche as well as access popular websites including Ancestry, Find my past and Family search from March 4 to 8.
The Mayor of Worcester Pat Agar and Worcester MP Robin Walker even attended to do their own research.
Marion McLaverty, community outreach worker, said the church enjoyed twice as many visitors as last year.
"People came in for different reasons," she said. "Mr Walker came and my husband started on his father's line and we're going to continue working with that line for him.
"The Mayor is going to get her father involved in doing it. It was nice to see people come in and get some help. A number of people said they would be back during normal opening hours.
"People were just wanting to find out about their ancestors. It's not a quick process but I think they were pleased to get started."
The chapel in the church is open in the week for people to come in and use the computers for family history enquiries.
Opening hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 11am to 1pm, Thursday 2pm to 4pm and Friday 7pm to 9pm.
