THE sound of singing at the station saw a community choir raise vital funds for charity.
More than 100 Got 2 Sing choristers from Worcester, Bewdley, Stourbridge, Wombourne and Wolverhampton travelled the length of the Severn Valley Railway, stopping off at three of its main stations to entertain the attraction's visitors with their harmonies.
Their journey began at the start of the line in Kidderminster and by the time they had sung soul and motown classics in the Engine House in Highley and at the end of the line in Bridgnorth they had raised more than £275 for the Stroke Association.
Choir member, Sophie James, who is also the community and events fund-raising manager for the Stroke Association, said: , "We were thrilled that Got 2 Sing chose to raise funds for us and are so grateful for all donations as they help us to provide that vital support for local people affected by stroke."
Television personality Noel Edmonds added the first coins to the coffers two weeks earlier with a chance meeting at the Severn Valley Railway during a photo shoot to publicise the event.
