ALL the Usual Suspects will be on show in an unusual exhibition that laces humour with seriousness.

Herefordshire-based artist Adrian Higgins has a wide-ranging practice which includes painting, digital illustration, photography and print-making.

His new exhibition, entitled the Usual Suspects, at the Courtyard in Hereford will present a body of work made over the last two years using digital photography and 'digital taxidermy to reflect Adrian's interest in visual literacy and creating narrative through the visual.

Much of the work on display at Herefordshire's centre for the arts conveys stories and characters that reside in a fictitious world which, on closer inspection, reveal a discomforting proximity and link to the real world.

Through a practice which plays with scale and viewers' expectations and laces humour with seriousness, Higgins’ work in the Usual Suspects functions as a kind of storyboard to connect and extend the narrative plot.

It is a soap opera being played out with a recognisable Herefordshire often providing the backdrop.

Adrian Higgins studied Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 1990, and he has a specific interest in creativity and the role it plays in childhood development and learning.

Higgins has worked as an arts practitioner and creative consultant at a national level working with both primary and secondary schools aiming to raise standards through a more creative approach to teaching and learning.

The exhibition in the Edgar Street venue's Gallery and Canyon spaces runs until Sunday, April 27.
