A GARDEN centre in Worcestershire is urging people to go green this festive season.
Webbs, in Wychbold, near Droitwich, is appealing for people to drop off their Christmas trees at the garden centre in a recycling scheme running from Friday, January 5, until Sunday, January 14.
Last year hundreds of people took up the offer to make use of the free service and Webbs hopes that it will prove even more popular this year.
More than six million natural Christmas trees were bought in Britain last year and most of them were thrown out after the Christmas festivities.
Webbs executive chairman Ed Webb said: "People are becoming much more environmentally aware and keen to recycle wherever possible.
"Having the tree recycling initiative right here on the doorstep makes it simple and hassle-free for local people to do their bit. Christmas trees make great wood chippings and mulch for gardens," he said.
You can take your tree for recycling between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
