A MAN died on Christmas Day, five days after falling down the cellar steps of a Worcester pub.
An inquest into the death of Robert Murthi, of Lichfield Avenue, Ronkswood, Worcester, opened yesterday.
The inquest heard that the 55-year-old fell down the cellar steps of the Paul Pry public house, in the Butts, Worcester, on Friday, December 20.
He was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he died on Christmas Day.
An investigation into the incident was launched by West Mercia Police and Worcestershire Regulatory Services.
A spokesman for the police said: “West Mercia Police has conducted an investigation and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
“The police file has been passed to the coroner and a Health and Safety investigation is being conducted by Worcestershire Regulatory Services.”
No further details were made available and the inquest was adjourned for a date to be fixed.
