FLOOD woes in Worcestershire look likely to last well into next week with the Environment Agency now predicting the Rivers Severn and Avon will continue to rise until Tuesday.
The organisation updated its warning for the River Severn at Diglis this afternoon and is now predicting it will reach a level of up to 4.5 metres on Tuesday. Hood Street and Quay Street remain at risk.
Warnings for the Severn at Upton – where flood gates were closed on Friday morning to protect homes and businesses – as well as Court Meadow, Kempsey, Callow End, Hanley Castle and Uckinghall have also been updated, predicting the river will peak at about 5.1 metres on Tuesday.
The organisation also updated its warnings for the River Avon at Strensham, Bredon and Wyre Piddle, where levels are expected to reach a peak of about 2.6 metres tomorrow morning.
Flood alerts remain in place for the River Avon from Salford Priors to Tewkesbury as well as Bow and Piddle Brook.
