SLEEVES were rolled up and a lot of elbow grease was needed by a group of jobless young people to make a difference to their community.
A team of youngsters from Worcester repainted and decorated a building used by the Army Cadets from Hereford and Worcester Army Cadet Force.
The group are taking part in the Prince’s Trust Team programme in partnership with Worcester College of Technology.
Prince's Trust Team 179 have been fund-raising to buy the necessary equipment to complete the project before working at the building for Malvern Troop for two weeks.
They raised £600 by bag-packing in supermarkets and carwashing at garden centres, then set to work to give the building a new look.
They painted the entire building using up-to-date regimental colours and have replaced the old noticeboards and tidied up the grounds around the building.
Chris Thompson, the Prince's Trust Team leader for Team 179, said: “Too many young people are struggling to find a job, and these young people are living proof that it is possible to turn your life around – no matter what background you’ve had.
“The young people have worked so hard. They’ve made a massive difference to the local community through this project.”
