TRAIN passengers are being warned that drunken behaviour will not be tolerated over the New Year period.
British Transport Police will be supported by police community support officers to ensure drink-fuelled disorderly behaviour doesn't ruin anybody's celebrations.
Chief Supt Peter McHugh said: "We want people to travel and feel safe. It's an opportunity to remind travellers to take extra care of themselves and their belongings after a drink."
He added that they would take action if passengers arrive at train stations in a drunken state.
"We don't want to be killjoys, but it is important to remember that your right to party is valid only until it affects the safety and comfort of others."
Police have released these 12 train travel tips: * Plan your return journey before you set out.
* If you drink, don't overdo it.
