PEOPLE could soon be singing their hearts out in Worcester.
The Brunswick Arms in Malvern Road has joined a national search for the next Madonna or Robbie Williams. The St John's pub has entered the national karaoke competition Pub Stars and is inviting wanna-be chart toppers to enter the heats.
From January solo singers, who must be over 18 years old, will begin battling it out for a place in the regional heats.
Last year, nearly 700 pubs entered the competition and more than 20,000 people took part over a period of 16 weeks. This year Pub Stars is set to be even bigger and organisers estimate 2,000 pubs will participate.
The Brunswick Arms heats will take place every Saturday night throughout January, February and March. The winner will go on to represent the venue in the regional heats in April. The selected finalists will then take part in the grand final held at the Hammersmith Palais in London in May. The overall winner will receive £3,000, a day in a studio recording a gold disc of their winning performance and the opportunity to sing live in front of record industry talent scouts.
If you think you've got what it takes to be karaoke star, e-mail chris@ brunswick arms.co.uk, call 01905 421579 or ask for more details at the pub.
