THE floods may have subsided but left in their wake are piles of rubbish washed downstream by the river Severn to Worcester.
Among the debris, including branches stacked up under the city's railway bridge, is the remains of a rowing boat.
Until the current moves it, it looks like the mess will stay where it is.
In August, the city council - which is not responsible for clearing up the river - carried out a one-off clean-up after the Worcester News revealed that everything from traffic cones to signposts had been dumped in the picturesque waterway, which brings delight to thousands of residents and visitors to the city.
But it appears the council is not intending to get its hands dirty a second time.
A spokesman said: "Whoever owns the riverbanks along that stretch of the river owns the river up to the middle as well.
"Likewise, whoever owns the riverbank on the opposite side also owns that side of the river up to the middle.
"If problems with rubbish are brought to our attention, we will inform the landowners about them."
