A VILLAGE hall that was under threat of closure following a series of attacks by vandals is safe for the time being.
Last month the Worcester News revealed how thousands of pounds of damage had been caused at Wychbold Village Hall in a series of attacks, which worsened over the summer.
On a number of occasions vandals smashed windows and roof tiles and pulled down guttering and drainpipes.
Dodderhill Parish Council reveal-ed how the never-ending repair bills had taken its toll on the village hall committee's finances, which could mean the hall being closed. The council even invested £6,000 to have CCTV cameras installed at the hall to help make the premises more secure.
However, following a meeting last week a new committee has been formed under the umbrella of the parish council. The committee will work to keep the hall open.
Council chairman Jan Harrigan said: "It will stay open for the time being." She said they still needed help from villagers with fund-raising and volunteers were needed to assist the committee.
