IF there’s one thing better than a silly monster with a funny name, it’s a whole zoo full of ‘em. So this nicely rhymed tale featuring a menagerie of Grimblegraws, Dinglebees and Purple Gurps, not to mention the fearsome Squirgal, is sure to delight youngsters with a love of daft words and a sense of the ridiculous – which, let’s face it, is most of them. The plot is also sure to tickle young readers’ fancies too, featuring as it does a child who succeeds where the grown-ups fail.
It’s the tale of a lad who wins the dubious prize of looking after the menagerie of said monsters – while the put-upon keeper can’t get out the place fast enough. In short order, the youngster restores order and shows the monsters who’s boss. A fun and imaginative book which children will want to read again and again.
