A new mobile safety camera site on Habberley Lane in Kidderminster is set to go live after Christmas.
The West Mercia Safety Camera Partnership said during the three year period from October 1, 2003, to September 30, 2006, there were seven recorded personal injury collisions on a 500 metre stretch of the road.
Of these, four were in the killed or seriously injured' category. In the previous two years, (October 1, 2001, to September 30, 2003), there were four recorded collisions, each of them slight.
Chris Ammonds, communications manager for the partnership, said: "Following consultation with Worcestershire County Council we are pleased that we will now be able to start enforcing on Habberley Lane, as it has long been a cause of much concern in terms of road safety.
"The road easily meets the Department of Transport criteria for a mobile site and speed data recently supplied by Worcestershire County Council revealed that 58.1 per cent of traffic travelling northbound, and 70 per cent travelling southbound was exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
"We are confident that our presence will have a positive effect in terms of reducing both speeds and collisions."
