BUDDING bellringers at St George's CofE Primary School have been honing their talents thanks to a visiting expert.
Youngsters at the school have been spending one afternoon a week with Colin Shepherd, leader of a team of hand bellringers based in Kingswinford, West Midlands.
Russ Doidge, classroom assistant at St George's, said Mr Shepherd had been visiting for several weeks to teach a group of 14 children who had volunteered to have a go. "It's an experience that they would not get anywhere else," he said.
"We wanted to do it as a team beause the hand bells were bought brand new from a lottery grant. One of our ideas was that we would go out into the community, and the team entertained at the local old folks' home in the week."
He said Mr Shepherd had agreed to return after Christmas to teach new songs.
