PEOPLE are being reminded to make the most of the wide range of services on offer at their local chemist during national Ask Your Pharmacist Week.
The initiative, running until Monday, aims to remind people that pharmacists are trained to help treat common conditions such as colds, flu, stomach bugs and aches and pains without the need for people to see their GP.
Some larger pharmacies can offer additional services such as flu jabs and tests for common conditions including high or low blood pressure, diabetes and chlamydia.
Jan Butterworth, head of primary care for NHS England in Worcestershire, said: “Pharmacies aren’t just a place to pick up your prescriptions or buy your plasters and paracetamol.
“You can get expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health complaints from your local pharmacist, as well as information and support to help you start a healthier lifestyle.
“With many pharmacies offering seven-day opening, and late hours, they’re the perfect place for busy people to get help and advice that could avoid a trip to the GP.”
