ESCAPED prisoner Alan Giles has been charged with escaping from lawful custody.
The 56-year-old who absconded from HMP Hewell near Redditch on Monday, October 28 was arrested in the Gunnings Road area of Alcester on Wednesday after going on the run for 10 days.
He was arrested after a call from a member of the public who believed they had spotted him at just after 6pm.
The area was immediately flooded with police officers and although the convicted child killer initially tried to evade officers, he was quickly apprehended.
Mr Giles will now appear at Worcester Magistrates Court tomorrow morning and immediately after his court appearance he will be returned to the custody of the Prison Service.
