A MOTHER-of-three has branded vandals who damaged the Christmas decorations lighting up her home "disgraceful".

Natasha Williamson has been decorating her home in Ronkswood, Worcester, for five years but on Friday evening, December 8, was shocked to discover the head of her inflatable Father Christmas had been cut off.

She repaired the figure the following Monday but that evening the wire was severed to a string of lights, designed to look like icicles and valued at around £50, which were draped along her fence.

Miss Williamson, of Ripon Road, said she had reported the damage to police but was particularly upset because her daughter, Chanell, eight, who has special needs, loves the decorations.

She said: "My little girl; it's the highlight of her life. She was so excited when we repaired the Father Christmas. She really was. It's absolutely disgusting."

Miss Williamson, who has two other children, Chanell's twin brother Mitchell, and Taylor, five, said she believed the vandals could be people who were jealous of her display.

She said: "People stop and come and look and say it's a lovely job and we were going to do it to raise money for charity next year."

A police spokesman confirmed officers were investigating a report that the Christmas lights had been damaged.

He said: "The incident appears to have happened between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Monday, December 11, and if anybody saw anything suspicious then we would like to hear from them."

He added, however, that vandalism of festive decorations was rare. Anyone with any information can call police on 08457 444888 quoting incident number 7495/111206.
