DISAPPOINTED visitors to a fireworks display at Worcester Warriors' Sixways stadium have been offered free rugby tickets after the event ended earlier than planned.
The Kids Pop Party Firework display, on Saturday, was brought to an end earlier than planned due to adverse weather conditions.
High winds blew fireworks off course and attendees were told the show would end five minutes earlier than planned.
Now, Worcester Warriors have offered ticket holders the chance to exchange their event tickets for entry to the Warriors' LV= Cup clash with Leicester Tigers on Friday, November 15.
A statement from the club said: "The final five minutes of the show did not go ahead after the safety of spectators and those travelling along the M5 and A449 were carefully considered.
"The 50-minute event ended after 45 minutes after the safety team determined that continuing the show would present an unacceptable risk due to the unpredictability of the wind conditions.
"The majority of the show had already gone ahead, with Free Radio, Dance in Motion and Britain's Got Talent dance act Area 51 providing entertainment prior to the fireworks."
Warriors head of operations, Brian Ryan, said: "Eleven minutes into the 16-minute firework display, six pieces of firework debris were blown off-course due to an unpredictable change in wind direction.
"The debris landed within an exclusion zone in the stadium and at a very safe distance from any spectators.
"With immediate effect, the fireworks were stopped using a pre-determined procedure as set-out in our event management and contingency plan. The Fire Service was called immediately as a precautionary measure.
"At this time spectators were advised via the stadium PA system to remain in their seats while the situation was being assessed and to allow ease of access for the Fire Service into the complex.
"The fire service attended and inspected all areas in which the debris had fallen, and took precautionary measures to ensure there was no risk of fire ignition within the areas affected.
"At this stage it was decided that the remainder of the show would not go ahead."
The club thanked those who attended the event and saw the majority of the show for their co-operation and announced the like-for-like ticket exchange for the Leicester match.
Spectators are asked to retain their firework display tickets and exchange them at the Sixways Box Office.
