MISSING murderer Alan Giles has been spotted just a few miles from Worcester.

The escaped prisoner, who is serving two life sentences for the kidnap and murder of 16-year-old Quinton student Kevin Ricketts in 1995, was seen in Inkberrow last night.

And this morning two police cars were seen heading through the village responding to another sighting of the child killer.

The cars were seen shortly after 8.30am and police confirmed they were heading to check out reports of a sighting.

Police are now following up possible sightings of the 56 year old in Inkberrow and across the South Warwickshire area and are visiting caravan sites and making further house to house inquiries to locate him.

Specialist search teams, including dogs, are being used in the man hunt.

Giles was at HMP Hewell, near Redditch, serving two life sentences for the kidnap and murder of 16 year old Quinton student Kevin Ricketts in 1995.

Anyone who has information for police on Giles’ whereabouts should call CID at Redditch on 999 or 101.

Giles, who was jailed in 1997, absconded from HMP Hewell on Monday, October 28, where he had been in an open part of the prison.

Giles is described as white, 5 ft 9 inches in height and of proportionate build, with short grey hair and blue eyes. He has a scar on the right of his forehead and another small one by his left eye. He has tattoos of an eagle on his back and a swallow, shark and flower on his left arm.

He is believed to be wearing a grey Rockport sweater, blue jeans and white Asics trainers.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Judge said: “We would like to thank the public for their help so far with our investigation. We have had several sightings of Giles in the South Warwickshire area reported to us and we are following up that information.

“It is vital that if anyone spots Giles they do not approach him but call us on 999 or 101 as soon as possible.

“Giles could be sleeping rough in woodland or farm buildings and we would appeal to dogwalkers, farmers, gamekeepers and others to keep their eyes peeled and stay alert.”
