A MAN has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a hit and run between Ledbury and Tewkesbury.
The incident happened outside the Duke of York pub, Berrow, on the A438 early this morning.
A man in his 20s was leaving the pub on a bike at about 1.50am when he collided with a green Audi cabriolet, which was also leaving the grounds of the Duke of York.
Paramedics attended, but the cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Audi made off and the car was found abandoned nearby.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody at Worcester Police Station.
Inspector Julian Smith, who is leading the investigation into the incident, said: “We arrested a man this morning and he will be questioned thoroughly by officers in Worcester as we get to the bottom of what occurred.
“It is vital we speak to everyone who witnessed any part of the collision or the moments leading up to it. I would particularly like to hear from everyone who was in the Duke of York last night.
“If anyone was passing the pub on the A438 in the small hours this morning and may have seen the Audi and the bike leaving, then please get in touch.”
