THE ongoing “re-boot” of Malvern Town Football Club continues with the unveiling of an offical new club crest.

New owners Chris Pinder and Ted Grizzell stepped in last month to save the club from bankruptcy after it ran up crippling debts of more than £200,000.

As well as bringing financial stability to the books, the duo pledged to take the 67-year-old club in a new, more professional direction.

The new badge, which notably adds the year the club was established in 1946, has been unveiled this week.

Mr Pinder, aged 28, said the design is intended to bring the club up-to-date while incorporating its heritage.

“We have had really positive feedback and it is great to see the public embracing the re-boot plan right from the early stages,” he said.

“I see this change as more evolution than revolution as it is important to keep the heritage of the past as well as increasing the commercial appeal.”

The crest will feature on the club’s new kit and training gear, which is set to be unveiled in time for Christmas.

Mr Pinder hopes that the new kit will inspire people to show their support for the club.

“The kit will also be available to purchase through the new online club shop, so we are hoping to see kids in Malvern Town shirts before very long,” he said.

Meanwhile, the new owners have also announced plans to start improvement works at the club’s Langland Stadium within a matter of weeks.

Initial work will see the pitch rolled and reseeded, the car park resurfaced, new fencing erected and a store room converted to office space.

Scrubland is also being cleared so two seven-a-side junior pitches can be reinstated in time for the 2014/15 season.

“A more extensive plan of refurbishment works is planned to take place in the off-season,” said Mr Pinder.
