YOUNGSTERS created their own prints inspired by Worcester Royal Porcelain as part of the nationwide Big Draw event.

Children made monoprints of their designs at the porcelain museum with a helping hand from Mexican artist and print maker Jose Santos, who is currently restoring the original copper plates from the factory.

Mr Santos said he was pleased to help out with the Big Draw, a month-long event aiming to encourage people of all ages to pick up a pencil or pen and do some drawing.

“The children have had a talk today about how the printing process works and also about the history of the porcelain and printing,” he said.

“They have then drawn their design and made a monoprint of it. Their designs have been inspired by the museum, having walked around and had a look to get their ideas.

“They seem to have enjoyed creating their own piece of artwork today.”

The museum is also hoping upcoming events will bring in people who have ideas about what it could do to attract more visitors.

Carrie-Anne Parkes, heritage project officer, said: “We are trying to find out what children and families want out of a visit to us.

“We have Heritage Lottery Funding round one to plan and a really important part of that is consultation to find out what our visitors and non-visitors want.”
