A FLOWER-loving woman has had a blooming marvellous 100th birthday.

Violet Ellen Sykes, who was born in Tibberton in 1913 and has lived near Droitwich all her life, is celebrating the major milestone. Mrs Sykes has always had a great interest in growing flowers and has won many show prizes over the years.

She celebrated by holding a party with 30 close family members, including four children, six grand children and ten great grand children. The 100-year-old, who is now supported at her home by members of her family, was married to her husband Cecil for more than 60 years.
