AN adventurous group of sixth form students from Worcester’s King’s School walked up to 10 hours a day and scaled about 1,000 metres to achieve their gold Duke of Edinburgh award.
The 22-strong group completed a four-day expedition in the Lake District in August.
A school spokesman said: “The discomfort from carrying heavy expedition packs and several blisters added to the challenge, but perseverance coupled with impressive teamwork meant that the groups successfully finished their expedition.
“The real sense of achievement at the end of the four days was fully deserved.”
The group will collect their Duke of Edinburgh awards at St James’ Palace at a date to be confirmed.
