THE Worcestershire author behind a series of spooky tales about a vegetarian vampire paid a visit to schoolchildren in Grimley, near Worcester.
Helen Wendy Cooper – author of the Vegetarian Vampire series – visited Grimley and Holt School to read from her new book the Lost Fangs and give the children tips on how to create their own characters.
The author – who is also a police community support officer and qualified nursery nurse – visited the school as part of Children’s Book Week and said: “Grimley is a great school to visit and all the children were excited about making their own bats and vampire characters.
“I have visited a primary school each day this week to celebrate Children’s Book Week and have had a lot of fun.
“The children sat beautifully listening to me read from the Lost Fangs and they made fingerpuppet bats afterwards.
“They all gave their bats a name and thought up stories about their bat.”
Headteacher Helen Hoarle said: “Helen’s visit has been a brilliant end to our wonderful reading week which included a visit to the Cheltenham Literature Festival.”
