GROUPS which have a positive impact on their communities are hoping for a funding boost after being shortlisted for cash prizes. Four good causes in Worcester and the Malvern Hills district are in line for the boost after the 2013 Lloyds Bank Community Fund announced those in the hunt. People can now have their say on who gets the cash, with voting now open to decide the top two groups in each area, who will then receive £3,000 each, while the other two will be given £300. The Worcester groups are homeless group Maggs Day Centre, Worcester Sea Cadets, respite service New Hope Worcester CIC and Guys Footprints, which provides support for bereaved children, young people and their families. In the Malvern Hills, the Friends of Malvern Community Hospital, rural learning group Acton Mill Care Farm, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Brockhampton Pre-School have been shortlisted for the award. The nominations have come from Lloyds Bank customers who have nominated good causes around the country. And Graham Lindsay, group director of responsible business at Lloyds, said the initiative offered the causes a chance to show off their work. “We are looking forward to showcasing the fantastic work being delivered by an enormous range of local good causes in communities across the country and encouraging everyone to get behind their local community groups by casting their votes,” he said. To cast your vote, visit the Lloyds Bank Community Fund website at lloyds bank.com/communityfund. Voting closes on Friday, November 1.
