AN ELDERLY man’s house in Worcester was burgled while he popped to the shops for just 20 minutes yesterday morning.
The man in his 80’s left his home on Tolladine Road near the junction with Ambleside Drive at around 9am on Sunday, October 6, returning 20 minutes later to find someone had broken into his house through an open ground-floor window at the rear of the property.
An untidy search was made throughout the home but it is not yet known if anything was taken.
Detective Constable Dave Clews is investigating the crime and said the victim had been left feeling unsafe in his own home.
“Tolladine Road is a busy street and I am confident there would have been people around on Sunday morning,” he said. “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to contact West Mercia Police.
“This crime is a reminder to us all that if you are leaving your home unoccupied, even for the shortest time, make sure everything is closed and locked up before you go out.”
Anyone with any information can contact police on 101 quoting incident number 236S 06/10/13.
