SINGER Giles Potter said his life had changed completely since appearing on The X Factor - and he is enjoying every minute.

The in-demand 16-year-old has barely been in Worcester since his first appearance on the show in August and he is hoping he can build on the exposure.

From performing around the country to getting mobbed on the streets and having celebrities and fans sending him messages on Twitter and Facebook, the last month has been non-stop.

“My life has changed massively since I’ve been on The X Factor.

“Social media has gone mad, I have got lots more followers, I have got a massive fanbase and stuff like that.

“Just everything has gone wild and I get recognised everywhere I go.”

Around 8.5 million people tuned in to Saturday’s show and saw music manager Louis Walsh tell the 16-year-old that he would not be taking him to the live shows.

He admitted the moment the news was delivered at judges’ houses was “massively depressing” but said he had no regrets about appearing on the ITV show.

Louis delivered his verdict after he and pop stars Nicole Appleton, Shane Filan and Sinitta watched Giles perform James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful.

“Performing in front of the four of them was probably the hardest audition, there was so much pressure and everything was riding on it.

“When Louis was about to break the news it was a really, really heart stopping moment, “It was a horrible when he told me but that’s life and I just wasn’t the best person for him to pick.

“I have no regrets about anything, I am just so happy to have got as far as I did.

“On Saturday night, people were contacting me saying I did really well and that I should have got through.

“I was happy with my performance and feel that I didn’t let myself down.”

Last year’s X Factor winner James Arthur even tweeted to say that Giles seemed like he would be hilarious to be around.

The teenager hopes the exposure of appearing on the X Factor will act as a springboard to a career as a singer and achieving his dream of going on tour.

Giles performed at Worcester Warriors ground Sixways ahead of Saturday’s match and will be performing at the Holiday Inn in Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday.

But the 16-year-old is keeping his feet on the ground and will continue with the performance arts course at Kidderminster College.

Giles, of Norton, near Worcester, said: “I am just going to see what comes next.

“Hopefully, something good is going to come out of it.

”The dream would be to go on tour.”

Despite giving it all to fight for his place in the competition, Giles said he and the other contestants had remained good friends.

“I’ve kept in touch with everyone and I am backing them all, all the way.”

Giles has also not ruled out appearing on the show next year - “I’m not sure if I will audition next year, I will if I feel like it.

“I’m just going to see what comes from the future.”
