AN elderly man has died after he was crushed by his own parked car near Worcester.
Emergency services were called at about 12.15pm yesterday to Old Malvern Road in Powick, at the junction with The Drive.
A man in his 90s was trapped underneath a vehicle and had been seriously injured.
It appears he was hurt when his parked red Vauxhall Astra rolled onto him.
He was taken to the QE Hospital in Birmingham by air ambulance and had emergency surgery for severe crush injuries, but he died overnight.
Sergeant Matt Eddy, who is investigating the incident, said: “Passers by came to the aid of the elderly man by lifting the car off him and calling the emergency services.
"Paramedics and staff at the QE also did all they could for him, but he passed away because of the extent of his injuries.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who saw this incident and has yet to speak to an officer, to please contact West Mercia Police.
"Also, if anyone witnessed the moments leading up to it, I would also urge them to get in touch.”
Sgt Eddy can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference number 0205s 02/10/13.
