A PAIR of police cars had to be written off after being rammed by a pick-up truck in Ombersley yesterday evening.
Officers attempted to stop a Suzuki Alto in Doverdale Road at about 10pm yesterday, but were rammed by another vehicle, a Nissan pick-up truck, which was in convoy with the first car. The truck is thought to have been stolen from Worcester.
Two officers suffered minor injuries and both patrol cars had to be written off.
A 47-year-old man from Wednesbury, near Walsall, was arrested on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
The Suzuki made off from the scene as was found abandoned in Mustow Green, near Kidderminster, this morning.
At about 3.30pm the same day officers tried to stop a Vauxhall Vectra near junction five of the M5 at Droitwich, which left the motorway at Lydiate Ash near Bromsgrove and turned into the A491 towards Hagley, where it collided with a Toyota Corolla near the Bell service station.
Two people were trapped in the Toyota and had to be cut free by firefighters, but were not seriously injured.
A 33-year-old Dudley man was arrested on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving following the incident.
Both men remain in police custody.
