A MAN was left with a fractured jaw and cuts to his face after being assaulted outside a pizza shop.

The man, who is in his 40s, entered Downtown Pizza, Sidbury, Worcester, in a group of three at about 12.40am on Saturday, September 21 when a male customer said , “What are you staring at?” and then spat in his face and insulted him.

The victim left the shop followed by the man who punched him at least twice in the face, knocking him to the floor and kicking him in the face, leaving the man with cuts to his face, a fractured jaw and an injured hand.

The offender made off down Bath Road with a woman he was seen at the shop with.

He is described as being white, in his late 20s, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of athletic build, with short black hair spiked at the front and shaved at the sides and stubble on his chin.

He was wearing a cream or white jacket over a pink or red t-shirt and dark jeans. He had a local accent and the woman he was with called him ‘Brad’.

She is described as white, aged about 20 years old and approximately 5ft 6ins tall, slim and had long brown hair with a fringe and tied up in a pony tail.

Detective Constable Phillip Ray, from Worcester CID, said: “This was a seemingly completely unprovoked and violent assault against a man who, even after being spat in the face, tried to avoid a confrontation.

“Not only has it left him with nasty facial injuries, the man is a contractor who has been unable to work since he was assaulted, so it has severely affected his livelihood.

“We will not tolerate such casual violence and I would ask anyone who was in the Sidbury area last Saturday and saw any part of this incident to get in touch. I also urge anyone who recognises the description and may know who ‘Brad’ is, to come forward.”
