ORGANISERS of Worcester's Santa Fun Run at the weekend have expressed their delight at the number of charitable folk who braved the cold weather to take part.

We reported in Monday's paper how more than 500 people entered the event which took place at Worcester City Football Club and followed a 5km course through the city, starting and finishing at the St George's Lane ground.

The event was organised by Leukaemia Care and their public relations and marketing assistant Sarah Richards said the cold weather did not seem to dampen anyone's spirits.

She added: "We were absolutely delighted so many people came along this year to raise money for our charity and it was great to see everyone having such a good time.

"This is what makes the months of organisation, by ourselves and the football club who co-organise the event, so worthwhile.

"We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone who volunteered their help in the run-up to, and during, the event, as well as all of our sponsors, all the runners who came along to take part, and the cheerleading squad from Worcester University who gave them encouragement during the race."

The amount of money raised from the run is expected to be counted in January.
