BEAUTY, they say, is in the eye of the beholder - but not, it would seem, in the eyes of Grazia magazine, which claims Worcester is home to some of the least attractive people in Britain.

According to a survey in the current edition of the glossy beauty and fashion mag, the Faithful City's women have been voted the eighth least attractive in the entire nation, while the men are faring little better in joint ninth.

Now, we could dismiss this as just another piece of London-biased frippery, with the capital's so-called sophisticates looking down on us amusing provincials'.

However, it would appear these rankings come from the city's own readers of this magazine, and the lowly ranking afforded to Worcester's women, in particular, comes from the city's men.

How could this possibly be so? Presumably, the entire magazine-reading male population of Worcester cannot have taken leave of its senses - even temporarily. We believe Worcester is full of attractive women, of all ages, perhaps none more so than our own Miss Worcestershire, Selina-Nicole Lavictoire, from St John's.

As Selina says: "I don't think everyone's attractive to everyone because it's a matter of personal opinion."

Quite right, Selina.

As the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius once said, everything has its beauty - but not everyone sees it. Maybe its time the city's men opened their eyes.
