POLICE investigating sexual abuse against young children at a county nursery say two men released on bail will not be charged with any offences.

But detectives last night insisted they could “confidently say” sexual offences did take place at the centre and were carried out by someone “directly linked” to Bright Eyes Nurseries.

Six men were arrested in May over the alleged offences, and three of them had already been released without charge.

Of the three men who remained on bail, two have now been released.

One of those men remains on police bail whilst detectives investigate offences against a former member of staff, including harassment and sexual assault.

It means one man now remains on police bail as a suspect.

Detective Inspector James Hopkins said: “As well as the first charges for unrelated offences, we are now at point where we can confidently say we believe the sexual offences against children were carried out by someone directly linked to Bright Eyes nurseries and no one else is being sought at this time.”

In May a mother contacted police after her child said they had been assaulted at one of the centre’s three branches, which are in Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Redditch.

West Mercia Police later received a second complaint about a further sexual offence against a second child.

Last Wednesday Ryan Lowe, aged 37, of Bodium Close in Worcester was charged with the production of cannabis after a small cultivation set up was uncovered at his home address.

He was released on bail until he is due to appear at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 October.

Mr Lowe, a minibus driver at the nursery, is not a suspect in either of the sexual assault reports
