PROBLEMS with television reception are being caused by “high atmospheric pressure” and service should soon return to normal, Worcester residents have been assured.

Several people have contacted your Worcester News to report problems with their digital TV signal.

Anne Wade, who lives in Astwood Road, said the problems started on Sunday - causing her to miss the latest episode of Downton Abbey.

“I didn’t have any reception at all on Sunday night or Monday,” she said. “I have had some signal since then but it is very weak and broken up.

“Neighbours have been having similar problems. We have re-tuned but with no success.”

Tracy WIlson contacted us on Twitter to report her signal keeps “freezing and breaking up” while there have also been reports of problems further afield in Worcestershire.

County councillor Fran Oborski said she has been having problems at her home in Kidderminster.

Her reception was lost entirely on Monday night before patchy reception returned today.

Chris Cain, press and publicity manager for Digital UK, said normal service should soon be resumed.

“We are aware of reports that some Freeview viewers are experiencing temporary reception difficulties due to high pressure atmospheric conditions,” he said. “This is a normal phenomenon that occasionally affects both TV and radio signals and, unfortunately, there is nothing broadcasters can do about this.

“However, as soon as the air pressure changes reception should return to normal.”
